I’m happy to say that without exception, every restaurant I’ve visited has (luckily) been very courteous to our children, and in some cases, go out of their way to be helpful, offering special unlisted meals, grabbing cushions frm somewhere to boost the seat up a bit, and even making them laugh inbetween courses!

If you’ve had a specific experience, whether good or bad with a child friendly Tenerife restaurant, why not add a review of it? Simply search for the restaurant within our site, and add your review. We’d love to hear from you!

There is a fine selection of Restaurants in Tenerife - whether you’re after a simple selection of fast food style snacks, or a full a la carte meal.

There are several Burger Kings and McDonalds dotted around the Island, should you be in need of a hamburger quick fix, along with some KFC like places where you can enjoy deep fried Chicken.

For sit down meals in Tenerife, you may at first be overwhelmed by the selection on offer. Italian restaurants in Tenerife, Canarian, French, German, Chinese, you name it - we have it!

Some of my favourites are the Italian Restaurant in Tenerife called Bianco’s, which offers unrivalled service, and delightful food, all without straining the budget, which can only be a good thing.

I also like the Little Italy chain of Tenerife Restaurants, purely because the food is delicious no matter which one you visit, and the staff have always been nothing short of courteous on my many visits.

Wherever you go in Tenerife, there is sure to be a specific restaurant that appeals to you, so why not visit our site and add a review for places you’ve visited? In the rare case we don’t have the restaurant listed, simply go ahead and add it. You could win a prize simply for adding a review or restaurant that we don’t already have listed!

Because Tenerife is such a small Island, and has so many different places to eat, the importance of getting a visitors first visit right cannot be stressed enough. With the amount of review sites springing up on the internet, if you as much as get one thing wrong, not only will they then tell their friends, but chances are pretty good that they will also give negative comments about your restaurant on the internet too.

Conversely, impress people every visit, with great service, and nice food, and they’ll also tell their friends and post on the internet, but it will actually lead to new visits and repeat customers.

This is even more important for residents of the Island.

So, in short, don’t ignore your visitors!

The amount of PR’s outside Restaurants in Tenerife, mainly in places such as Playa de Las Americas and Los Cristianos, is shocking. You can barely walk a few feet without being accosted by someone trying to badger you into coming into their restaurant!

Most of them can’t even leave you with a simple “Would you like to see our menu?” - they have to keep badgering you until you’re forced into being rude, or just ignoring them.

My favourite was a few days ago, when we were out for a walk, and we had actually eaten before leaving. A PR badgered us, and eventually we said that we’d already eaten, and weren’t hungry again yet. He then carried on, and it was obvious that he thought we were lying to get away from him! This is shocking, and is not a good example of customer service.

Less is more with PR’s, as far as I’m concerned!

Tenerife restaurants are a variety of culinary delights. On one hand, you have the typical Canarian food choices (Canarian Potatoes with ‘Mojo Picón (pronounced Mo Ho)’ sauce, for example) - then at the other end of the spectrum, you have McDonalds, Burger King and the other fast food chains.
Within this article, we attempt to give you an overview of what type of places you’d most likely want to visit on a holiday to Tenerife.

In Tenerife, ‘Italian Restaurant’ doesn’t necessarily mean ‘Italian Restaurant’.

Confused? So were we when we went to our first ‘Italian Restaurant’ in Tenerife. Just bear in mind that a lot of Italian Restaurants in Tenerife do not serve authentic italian food, and you’re more than likely to find generic pizza and pasta dishes that could be much better enjoyed in any other restaurant. There is the odd exception of course, some of the Little Italy restaurants, whilst being part of a large chain, still serve authentic, delicious food.

When in Tenerife, do as the Canarians do!

That’s right. You wouldn’t expect someone to come over to your country of residence and turn their noses up at your home made delicacies without trying it, would you? So at least make an effort to try local food when you’re here. The main delicacies are fresh fish, local meat, and succulent fresh vegetables.

Don’t succumb to the temptation to stick to ‘food you know’!

As a British person, I know how easy it is to go abroad and stick to eating in places where you recognise the food (Pie and chips, Lasagne, Fish and chips etc). When you visit Tenerife, you’re doing yourself a massive disservice if you stick to visiting British restaurants for example. Not only will you be totally overcharged 99% of the time, but you will also be missing out on some of the tastiest food available in Europe. As an example, in a British bar in Tenerife, a lager will more than likey cost you anything from 2 euros up to 5 euros. In a Canarian bar, you’ll be lucky to pay over 1 euro 50 cents.

Hopefully this article has been of use to you, and helps you make an informed decision about where and what to eat on a visit to Tenerife!

Website: http://www.the-outsideinn.com (click on the link on the left saying ‘Beeches Brook Menu’).
Location: Puerto Santiago, opposite the Hotel Barcelo, and above The Outside Inn. If you know where Tamaimo Tropical is, then you’re in the right place.
Opening Times: From 7pm weekdays, all day weekends.

Terming itself as a ‘British Sports Bar’, from the outside it is quite well hidden. Once you notice the menu on the wall though (walk past Route 66 and the walkway up to Francy’s Bar), you will see a smallish sign that directs you to walk ‘up the ramp and round to the right’. Follow these instructions and you’ll reach the bar.

We were very pleasantly surprised!

They have a massive menu for such a small bar, and the food is absolutely gorgeous. I have rarely eaten in many other ‘British’ bars that can match this one for the freshness of food and the taste too.

I had some Shami Kebabs, followed by a Turkey, Stuffing and Cranberry Panini. My wife had Onion Bhajis followed by a Garlic Butter, Cheese and Tomato Panini.

We were both knocked out by how nice the food itself was. We would definitely visit here again.

The bar itself has several televisions, including a large on in the middle, an outside area, and shows all major sporting events. If there is no one watching any of the events in the bar, they are more than willing to switch over to what you would like to watch (as an example, my wife wanted to watch Big Brother - they switched it straight over for us!).

Ambar, in Plaza Del Duque, is a relatively new bar. It’s right nextdoor to the new Bianco’s, and can be described as a ‘chillout’ bar.

The staff are friendly and attentive, and there is something to drink for everyone.

They specialise, however, in cocktails, and this is where they excel. Not only do you have the choice of any ‘normal’ cocktails, but they also do a good selection of their own cocktails. The mint Mojito is delicious.

My wife doesn’t really like cocktails, or strong alcohol, however, after asking for something ‘like a strawberry milkshake’, that was exactly what she got. It had a few different types of alcohol in it, but you wouldn’t have known that from the taste, it did taste very much like a strawberry milkshake!

It’s not very well explained on the menu’s, but if theres nothing you fancy, then tell the bar staff what it is you like dirnking normally, and they will ‘custom-make’ a cocktail to suit you.

The decor is perfect for the market I guess they’re aiming for, ‘chillouty’ and even though the sofa’s and chairs are plastic, and don’t actually look comfortable, I can assure you they are once you sit on them.

It closes about 1am, and is just a short cab ride away to Faro’s, which is a nice place to end the evening (if a little expensive - 8 euros for a smirnoff and coke?! - thats for a different post though).

The prices aren’t as bad as you’d expect either, and in addition, don’t be disheartened when the food comes out, the first time we ate in there, the pasta dishes looked miniscule (I enjoy my food) - but the dishes themselves were some kind of hollowed out affair, so there was absolutely loads of it.

I reccomend the strips of fillet steak with spaghetti neopolitana I think it was, and the stuffed mushrooms starter is absolutely amazing, best I’ve had anywhere.

I visited this restaurant a few weeks ago, whilst some relatives were here on holiday. We were out shopping and generally sightseeing, and decided to stop somewhere for lunch, and chose this restaurant based solely on it’s looks.

As said elsewhere in this blog, we visit the Little Italy in Los Gigantes on a regular basis, but we know from visiting other restuarants bearing the Little Italy name that experience differs between restaurants. We were pleasantly suprised.

The restaurant itself is in the heart of the pedestrianised shopping precinct in Los Cristianos, and as such, we were expecting it to have a commercial feel about it, cheap and cheerful meals, served quickly, with the minimum of fuss. We couldn’t have been more wrong.

From the attitude of the staff when we first walked in, right up to paying the bill, everything was to a very high standard. My relatives had fish dishes, and I had a 16oz steak. Being fish aficionados as it were, my relatives were in an excellent position to comment on how nice the dishes they ordered were. Both agreed that they were fantastic and that they would definitely visit the restaurant again.

My steak was breathtaking. I expected a large steak, but it was behemoth like when it arrived on my plate, and was cooked expertly.

All in all, we totally enjoyed our meal here, and would have no problems reccomending it to anyone else that visits Los Cristianos. I even went as far as to visit the kitchen and complement the chef (something I very rarely, if at all, do).

Little Italy is a well known chain here in Tenerife. However, the standard of food and service differs from each individual restaurant within the chain.

I visit the one in Los Gigantes a lot, for the simple fact that the service and the food is delightful every single time.As you approach the entrance, you’ll notice that there is a large outdoor (covered in clement weather) seating area to your left, and a raised seating area to your right (which has only just been opened to allow eating within). We normally sit on the raised platform, purely for the fact that the seats there seem a little less crowded.

There is also a Parrot within the raised area, who delights with choice phrases as you enjoy your meal (don’t worry, everything he says is ‘family’ friendly). This is complemented by a Toucan by the entrance.

As stated already, Little Italy itself is the name of the chain of Restaurants, but the menu, service and quality can differ widly.

Some of the choiciest dishes available here are the steak with Chicken Liver and bacon, Roast Lamb (although you will need to ask for mint sauce should you require it) and the Fettucini of the house.

I also reccomend asking for some Champagne Sangria with your meal, it’s a delightful drink, and you can barely taste the Champagne - however, you can certainly taste the alcohol in it.

The bill, when it arrives is always well priced, and the staff are a delight to be served by. All in all, it is a charming restaurant with a great atmosphere, and one that you will not regret visiting.
