Description: Still engraved in our eyes are incredible presentations and prodigoous flavours remain stuck to our palate from this unpresuming place, that like many, we visit without explaining what it is that we are doing. It is one of the places in which you are swept along the palatial experience, without demands or horizons, come what may. Later the reasons are clarified. Manu Regalado (who works in the kitchen alongside his brother Tomas and the magnificent chef Jesus de Juan) should be impregnated with knowledge with all his senses in action, from passing through the school of cooking "El Txoko del Gourmet" in San Sebastian, Guipuzcoa, from working as chief chef in the restaurant "Martin Berasategui" from Lasarte, Guipuzcoa (where he formed part of the group developing new dishes) as cheif chef in the restaurant "El Bulli" in Gerona, from the very well known Ferran Adria and other none the less exciting working experiences. They present two menus, one with light dishes and the other with XXI Century dishes.

User Reviews for La Retama -

This is a really nice unpretensious restaurant. They speak no English here so you need to have a little knowledge of Spanish and at least menu Spanish. The food was very good but huge portions and I was full up after my starter! The menu is quite limted though and not very extensive. Good service and friendly staff. The chef/owner came out to greet us when we arrived. They could do with presenting their menu in a bit more up market fashion. It was a bit like a cafe menu-rather basic. This restaurant needs a few extra little touches like fabric table cloths and candles to make it more stylish. This is a fairly new venture and I expect these things will come in time. Main thing is the food is good.

Tenerife Dining's Chef Of The Month

Nicola Picciau was born in Milan in 1978, and from an early age he displayed a passion for cooking and working in kitchens, as was the family tradition, inherited from their ancestors. He first learnt his cooking skills from his Grandmother's farm in Sardinia, where he kept his large family happy with various Mediterranean recipes.
