Granadilla de Abona has beatiful landscape gardens of sandy earth created by the trade winds. The municipality offers a wide selection of fine cuisine that, in the recent years, has its very special place on the island of Tenerife.
A rich agriculture from our farmers and ranchers, of fresh vegetables, potatoes, wine, gofio, honey and cheese. From our sea and fishermen; Canarian fish like the Vieja, sardines, tuna and mackerel are offered to with the chefs with wise hands to imagine new or traditional recipes and presentations.
The cuisine of Granadilla de Abona is the work of three major players:
- Farmers, ranchers and winemakers from the district who for centuries till the soil and extract high quality products for our restaurants, pubs and bars. Also available in the markets and the well-known Farmer's Market held every weekend in San Isidro.
- The fishing fleet of The Coast, second largest of the island, brings every day the best of the ocean for the traditional stewed, grilled or fried fish, or other more elaborate presentations.
- The restaurant owners and chefs strive to offer us the best of our earth to surprise our senses with excellent meals, snacks or desserts.
Granadilla de Abona organize throughout the year a series of events in which the marriage of tapas dishes, wines and desserts make it a unique dining experience. With the participation of different agents such as restaurants, wineries and artisans ; example of this is the Jornadas Gastronómicas del Pescado Azul (Blue Fish Gastronomic days), el Festival de los Sentidos (Festival of the Senses), Sensaciones (Sensations) y la Ruta de Tapas “Mándate una tapa” (Have a Tapas)
